The Center Table Library takes its design cues from the tables in the Thomas J. Watson Library, The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s research library. The library holds a collection of more than a million volumes, extensive digital collections, and online resources, making it one of the most comprehensive art libraries in the world. The library, along with an original drawing of a library table (ca. 1753–62) by the famed furniture maker Thomas Chippendale (British, 1718–1779), have influenced the design of the Center Table Library, which has been beautifully crafted in black veneer.
