With a brushed-brass finish and smoked-glass elements, the chandelier's design evokes the monumentality of The Met's fluted Ionic column, which once towered at a height of 58 feet in its original location. At 106 cm. high with a 44-cm. diameter, this chandelier marries ancient history and modern luxury, illuminating your space with a touch of elegance and sophistication.HISTORIC PROVENANCE
The Chandelier Imperial is inspired by a marble column (ca. 300 B.C.) from the Temple of Artemis at Sardis, a highlight of The Met’s Greek and Roman art collection. The massive section of a fluted Ionic column, which stood at over 58 feet tall in its original location, showcases delicate foliate carvings on the capital—a unique feature among the surviving columns from the temple. This chandelier boasts elegant ridged elements in homage to the column’s detailing and is crafted with smoked glass and a brushed-brass finish.
